Our school magazine brings together all the various strands of the school in one annual publication. Here, parents, students and staff find a celebration of the huge variety of activities, trips and artistic endeavours undertaken by the girls over the course of the academic year.
The magazine is produced in the Michaelmas term by a group of sixth form students under the supervision of Mrs McDonald from the Art Department.
The text of the magazine is written by girls and staff throughout the school and must be formatted into a glossy, attractive publication. With this as their goal, the sixth form editors learn aspects of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign, a desktop publishing application used to make The Guardian, The Observer and other professional publications. This allows the girls to learn some aspects of design, layout and the printing process, as well as testing their writing and proof reading skills.
It is hard work, but the results are invariably stunning - a testament to the dedication of the magazine team.
