Request a prospectus here.
By doing so, you will automatically be entered on our ‘Enquiry list.'

visit the school

Ideally, your first visit to the school should be on our Open Day at least one year prior to entry. Children of all ages are welcome.  Following this visit, or if you are unable to attend Open Day, you are invited to make an appointment with the Headmistress.  Please contact our Admissions Officer to request an appointment.

junior department afternoon

This is an opportunity for parents who are interested in the Junior Department to learn more about the assessment process.   Invitations will be sent to all registered candidates and those on our ‘Enquiry list.'  See important dates for more information.

register

Candidates should be registered at least one year prior to their entry date, although late applications are acceptable. A registration form should be completed and returned to the Admissions Office with the appropriate fee.

Once your daughter is registered you will automatically receive details about the assessments and the following forms and paperwork will be sent to you at the appropriate time:

  • The date and information relating to the test
  • Assessment Application form
  • Reference form
  • Details of subjects to be tested
  • Fees form

interview

All candidates will be interviewed two weeks prior to the entrance assessment.

assessment day

All candidates will take a teacher-led assessment in mathematics and English. Places are allocated based on performance in the assessment, current Head Teacher’s report and a short interview. See important dates for more information.

offers and accepting a place

Parents will be notified of the outcome of the assessment within ten days of the Assessment Day. Parents are asked to accept the place as early as possible since there are important implications for girls on our waiting list.

moving up to senior school

Girls accepted into the Junior Department will be expected to enter the mainstream St Helen’s Year 7 at the appropriate time. They will take the St Helen’s examination at 11+, not for the purpose of selection, but for staff records and possible scholarships.

scholarships and bursaries

Scholarships and bursaries are not available in the Junior Department but all girls will be considered at the time of the examination for 11+ scholarships.
