Parents and prospective pupils are also welcome to make an appointment to see the Headmistress and have an individual tour of the school. Contact our Admissions Officer for more information.
sixth form open evening
This generally takes place the week after our Open Day, click here for more information.
register
A registration form should be completed and returned to the Admissions Office with the appropriate fee. Once your daughter is registered you will automatically receive details about the entrance procedure.
entrance interviews
Registered candidates are interviewed by the Head of the Upper School and A level subject teachers. Interviews generally take place in late November, although late applications are acceptable, subject to the availability of subjects to be studied.
offers and accepting a place
Candidates will be informed of their conditional offer in the week following the interview morning. All offers require at least five A* to C grades at GCSE and usually an A or A* in the subjects the candidate plans to study at AS level. Letters confirming offers will be sent in late August, following receipt of GCSE results.
scholarships and exhibitions
Academic scholarships: Applications for academic scholarships, valued at 1/8th of the school fees, are required by mid-October. All applicants will take a critical thinking and philosophy style examination and shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview with a small panel of Governors. Academic scholars display an exceptional ability to reason, analyse and construct an argument while relishing the opportunities to contribute to the academic life of the school.
Art Exhibition: Internal and external candidates may apply for an Art Exhibition. We are looking for a student who shows genuine interest, potential and enthusiasm for the subject. All candidates will be interviewed and are required to submit a portfolio which contains coursework and independent art work completed out of school.
Music Scholarships: Minor Scholarships meet the annual cost of tuition in one or two instruments or singing, and auditions take place in November. Major Scholarships (including Organ Scholarships) are also offered in Upper School and meet up to one fifth of the annual academic tuition fee. Auditions are also held in November, around the time of the academic scholarship examinations, for girls in Year 11 entering Upper School in the following September. Auditioning for major performing scholarships is not restricted to those who hold minor awards. A girl auditioning for a major award may be given a minor award if she does not already hold one. Girls are expected to have reached approximately a level equivalent to Grade 8 on at least one of their instruments.
Applications forms for all the above are available from the Admissions Office.
