Scholarships and Exhibitions may be awarded to candidates who perform exceptionally well in the entrance tests. The size and number of awards is at the Headmistress’ discretion. The award is offered for the entirety of the girl’s education at the School. Music Scholarships and Exhibitions may also be awarded following an audition and interview with the Head of Music.
Governors’ Scholarships and Exhibitions are awarded to candidates (including internal applicants) for Upper School on the basis of their performance in the Scholarship Examinations and interviews, which take place in November prior to entry.
Academic Scholarships are valued at one eighth of the tuition fee. Girls awarded a Minor Music Scholarship receive tuition in one musical instrument. Girls awarded a Major Music Scholarship receive tuition in two musical instruments. Girls awarded Exhibitions receive £100 per annum.
Further information is available from the Bursar (01235 520657) or the Admissions Officer (01235 530593).
The Governors have made provision to award bursaries to girls in Year 7 and above whose parents could not otherwise afford the fees. Bursaries can be any value up to the full amount of the fee, and may include assistance with School bus travel. They are awarded to candidates whose performance in the entrance tests suggests academic merit and where the application satisfies the financial constraints dictated by the Governors, and at the Headmistress’ discretion. Bursaries are reviewed annually; they may increase or decrease according to circumstances.
Bursary support is based on an assessment of financial circumstances. It considers capital assets as well as income and makes allowances for dependents and pensions. Awards for one girl educated at the School are possible if assessed resources (after taxes, National Insurance, mortgage and other fundamental costs) are less than £30-£35,000. If household income is assessed at less than £10-£12,000, a bursary may cover the full fees. Charges for travel on School buses may also be reduced. These levels are adjusted to take account of other more or less favourable factors.
If you wish to apply for a bursary, an application form is available from the Admissions Officer or the Bursary.
The completed form and supporting papers should be returned to the Bursary office at the School. The application will be assessed by an appropriate panel.
