Joint Bus Service

Travel Status

Lent Term January 2012

Please be aware that from September we have new operators joining the Joint Bus Service.  Blunsdon Coach Travel (01993 811320) from Witney will be operating our East Hendred,  Woodstock & 4.20pm Grove routes.  Whites Coaches (01865 340516) from Culham will be operating the Faringdon, Buckland & 4.20pm Witney service.  The remainder of the routes will be operated by Weavaway Travel (01635 820028) based in Newbury & Reading area.  North Oxford, Islip, Thame & Watlington routes will be operated by Pearces Coaches (01865 340560) on behalf of Weavaway.

Abingdon School - French Exchange 3rd to 10th February 2012

We are pleased to be able to confirm that we are able to accomodate all of the visiting exchange partners of bus travellers onto our bus routes.  In order to make this possible whilst the exchange students are in school the Reading Station & Caversham stops will go onto our Goring AM route.  The Reading route will start at Emmer Green.  Please will you ensure you board your coach at the normal stop.  The evening routes will operate as normal. 

Tothill AM Route - Revised Times

After half term on Monday 20th February 2012 the AM route times for our Tothill route will be changing slightly in an attempt to get them more accurate and give some of you a few additional minutes each morning.

Witney/Woodstock Area

We are aware of roadworks taking place in the Woodstock & Witney area that may have an impact on some of our routes into or returning to school.  We will continue to monitor these with the operators.

Lent Term 2012 - Termly Bus Passes

Any one who had a bus pass for the Michaelmas term to travel on a route different to their normal route to and from school will need to apply for one of them again at the start of term.  Please only apply for one if you know it will be used weekly.  Seats on some routes are limited.

Exchange Students (French/Italian & Spanish)

Whilst the exchange students are in school it is important that pupils and exchange partners travel on their normal route to and from school.  If you are from St Helen's they will need to use the earlier return service whilst in school.  We are not likely to be able to provide additional seats on the late service.

Coach Locker Procedure

To improve the safety of the coach journeys to and from schools the following procedure will be followed.  Please ensure that your child understands his/her role in this procedure.

Coach lockers may only be opened or closed by the driver who is the keyholder.

Passengers must wait for the driver to disembark before boarding or disembarking so that the driver can attend to the locker promptly. 

On homeward bound trips passengers are asked to tell the driver if they have baggage they need to retrieve before disembarking.
