activities

Girls are encouraged to participate in numerous extra curricular activities and lunchtime clubs.  Every June, St Helen’s has a Music Festival. Many girls, of all abilities, play their instruments in front of an adjudicator who gives them helpful practice and performance ideas, and of course, lots of praise. At Christmas the two year groups join together to perform their Nativity Play in the School Chapel before parents and friends.

sport

Girls are able to take part in a wide variety of sports including: netball, lacrosse, hockey, gymnastics, rounders, tennis and athletics. We also use the swimming pool at Abingdon School. Junior girls have matches with other schools as well as competing in the school sports day and swimming gala.

residential visits

Residential visits foster a growing sense of independence and responsibility in the girls. In April/ May we alternate visits to the Isle of Wight or London – two hugely different experiences.  On the Isle of Wight we spend amazing afternoons on the beach studying the rock pools and geology of Whitecliff Bay. The girls also have fun – Go-Karting, Laser Quest, Problem Solving and Night Line are just a few of the activities on offer. In London we spend three days visiting historic sites, museums, art galleries, theatres and participating in workshops.
