IN ABINGDON


A stellar line-up including the Raymond Blanc Cookery School and Gin In A Tin will be appearing at this celebration of fabulous local cuisine...


Inspired by food & drink festivals all over the country, St Helen and St Katharine is bringing together many of the finest charcutiers, bakers and brewers at the inaugural Six Counties Food & Drink Market on Saturday 20 October. As a school that believes in the importance of educating palates and which has recently won the Tatler Award for Best School Food, St Helen’s seems a natural venue for the event.  In an area which is already a thriving hub of foodie activity, making an event of sharing the extraordinary range of local produce from across six counties brings huge positivity. As well as the benefit for local businesses, the sense of community which grows from events such as this is palpable.

“We are proud to be hosting the first Six Counties Food & Drink Market and hope that many will join us for a day of classic, quirky and innovative taste sensations while supporting local artisans,” says Tom Peeke, St Helen’s Operations Manager and organiser of the event.

Among the numerous names in the market line-up are the Raymond Blanc Cookery School, chocolatier Anton Hazelle, cookery writer and presenter Sophie Grigson, Cotswolds liquor connoisseur Gin In A Tin, Auberge du Chocolat, Denman WI and St Helen’s own Executive Chef Olivier Hubert. There will be talks
and demonstrations throughout the day as well as countless opportunities to sample an array of gastronomical delights. Local company Miele will also be present, offering exclusive discounts on their products.

  • Gin in a Tin will be demonstrating Gin Blending on their stall

  • For just £10 we also have Hand Harvest & Wild Ferment themed Wine talks and tastings.  A discussion into how and why these techniques are so crucial for the production of quality, natural wine.   These take place at 11.00 , 14.00 & 16.00 – Bookable at the stall in the Old school hall.

  • Miele Abingdon will have a large area showcasing their products and are offering significant discounts for orders generated from the event.  They are also running a prize draw from their stall.
