The joint senior production of King Charles lll by Old Abingdonian Mike Bartlett is about the death of Queen Elizabeth, the ascension of Charles to the throne and the problems he faces when he refuses to sign a bill oppressing freedom of the press. This eventually results in his abdication and handing the crown to William and Kate. The play also follows the story of Harry and his girlfriend as he wishes to leave the royal family to be with her. This was surprisingly topical in relation to the current situation of Harry and Megan and the relevancy of the story made the performance process even more exciting. I played Kate Middleton who manipulated William into betraying his father and I thoroughly enjoyed bringing the Lady Macbeth-like perception of her character to life. The performances were both fun and successful and an overall amazing experience.
