During our PGL experience, we took part in a range of outdoor activities including climbing, quad biking, raft building and the night-time game of Ambush. These gave us a chance to bond as new forms and as a year group, with Ambush displaying some competitive team spirit and raft building bringing everyone together in a momentous effort to avoid getting wet. It was great to be provided with some valuable time to spend not only with friends but also meeting new people, whether through enjoying a spirited lunchtime rendition of ‘There was a crazy moose’ or pioneering a more unconventional method of reaching the top of Jacob’s ladder. For me it highlighted the importance of having an open mind when faced with challenges and working as a team to achieve a common goal. The teamwork behind something as simple as building a stable raft or scaling the heights of the Jacob’s ladder can be applied in so many different real-life situations.
