A drop of Disney, a dash of Les Misérables, a spot of Mamma Mia and so much more – our Musical Theatre Evening was truly a dream medley as our talented performers sang (and danced) to some of their beloved show tunes. Amelie (L6E) tells us about the amazing, toe-tapping performances that she enjoyed throughout the evening.
If you are looking for a way to be transported to the West End for the evening without leaving the comfort of St Helen’s, look no further than the Musical Theatre Evening. With songs and dances centred around the theme of dreams, the students performed a wide range of acts including ‘A Million Dreams’ from The Greatest Showman, to ‘Sit Down You’re Rockin’ the Boat’ from Guys and Dolls. It was truly an eclectic yet perfect mix of tear-jerking and feel-good songs and dance. It looked like enormous fun and judging by the cheers that echoed through YPH afterwards, it was.
A particular highlight was the rendition of ‘Holding out for a Hero’ performed by students from Year 10 to Upper Sixth, which involved a flurry of neon sweatbands and leg warmers, creating an earworm which has since permanently remained in my head! It was amazing to see students from all year groups joining together to create a unique and electric performance, entertaining and enjoyable for cast and audience alike.
Miss Coad did an incredible job of creating an evening which showcased the talents of the students and showed what the incredible students in the School are capable of. From light-hearted numbers to emotional solos, each song was a moment to remember and great fun for all. Congratulations to everyone involved!
