St Helen's welcomed Young Film Academy (YFA) to teach Year 8 a thing or two about filming. YFA specialise in schools film making programmes and work in partnership with the British Film Institute Film Academy Network to promote young talent in the UK.
Year 8 students reflect on the day's activities:
Challenge Day was loads of fun. Everyone enjoyed themselves learning how to do stage combat, being taught about different shooting angles, having the chance to shoot our own films and much more. The aspect of Challenge Day which I enjoyed the most was developing my teamwork skills and having to listen to others. It was an amazing opportunity to learn in a different way. Thank you very much!
For me, Challenge Day was an amazing experience. We were put into mixed groups and after some interesting film history and activities in the morning, we were then tasked with making our own films. It tested our ability to work in groups, our patience, our creativity and many other life skills which will be very useful to us in the future. It may not have been a normal school day but what we learnt was just as important. I really enjoyed it.
