Tags: Apply to St Helen and St Katharine Junior Department, entry into Year 5, entry into Year 6, independent girls school Oxford
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there may be changes to some of the admission processes in order for us to be able to comply with current government guidelines. All registered candidates will be notified of these changes.
If you are interested in Year 6 entry in the current academic year please contact the Admissions Office.
Candidates should be registered at least one year prior to their entry date, although late applications may be acceptable. A registration form should be completed and returned to the Admissions Office with the appropriate fee. The closing date for registration for 2021 entry is 13 November 2020, however earlier registration is recommended.
Once your daughter is registered you will automatically receive details about the assessments and the following information will be emailed to you at the appropriate time:
Subsequently all registered candidates will be invited to a 'taster' day taking place in November in the year preceding entry.
All candidates will take a teacher-led assessment in mathematics and English. The assessment day for 2021 entry will be 30 January 2021. Places are allocated based on performance in the assessment, current Headteacher’s report and a short interview.
All candidates will be interviewed in the week following the entrance assessment, for 2021 entry.
Parents will be notified of the outcome of the assessment within ten days of the Assessment day. Parents are asked to accept the place as early as possible as there are important implications for girls on our waiting list.
After accepting a place girls are invited to the School on two occasions: one in June when they will have an afternoon of activities and a chance to meet their form and their form tutor, and one in September, the day before the beginning of term.
Girls accepted into the Junior Department will be expected to enter the mainstream St Helen’s Year 7 at the appropriate time. They will take the St Helen’s examination at 11+, not for the purpose of selection, but for staff records and possible scholarships.
